SKIPPY DEVELOPMENTAL
GROUPS
All our children are placed by age and developmental progression or recession. A child that is 3 years of age biologically, but has a developmental age of a 4-year-old, will always be encouraged to attend the higher developmental program, as research tells us that children who tend to be more progressive also tend to be less interested in school, and its simply because they are bored and not adequately stimulated.
Developmental groups are populated depending on the child’s neurological development.
Children are assessed based on how strong their neurological connections are
Children in this age bracket are practising gross motor skills, such as squeezing, balancing, manipulating objects and activating muscle groups for further development.
Their brains are highly responsive to emotional responses and they are learning to understand emotions. This is why we go through the dreading phase of tantrums and defiance. Children who do not understand emotions tend to react impulsively and aggressively because it makes them feel ˝yucky˝. Skippy aims to teach children about emotions, what they are, why we have them, that they are ok to have – good and bad, and how we can learn to control them in ways that make us more productive.
Social attachment is also critical in this age bracket, where children learn to distinguish who is important to them and who they can trust. We work with children to develop social skills to give them the confidence to stand out as they grow to be independent beings.
Brain neurons responsible for Language and mathematical tasks being to rapidly fire in this age bracket. Skippy allows children, through play, to develop and align these neurons as they biologically synch. The stronger the neurological connections are, the easier it is to learn new tasks linked to language and mathematics.
Neurons responsible for vision are also highly active in this stage, meaning their abilities for visual recognition are strengthening.
Children are beginning to understand themselves in this age bracket. Who they are, what they are capable of, what they could accomplish, and how much independence they are able to achieve.
